Marathi Vangmay Mandal was established in L. S. Raheja College in 1986 as an initiative of the Marathi-speaking teaching staff and students. Today’s student members are from junior and degree college, and the Mandal is fortunate to receive support from ex-students who contribute to activity organization.
The main objective of the Marathi Vangmay Mandal is to provide a common platform for all teachers and students to conduct activities related to Marathi Literature, and to have an open and voluntary membership for all who love Marathi literature. The Mandal also organizes several competitions that include essay writing, handwriting, poster making, poetry recitation, crossword, quiz, book reviews, rangoli, etc. Marathi Rajbhasha Divas is celebrated every year on 27th February in the memory of great Marathi poet Kavi Kusumagraj.
The end of the academic year is marked by a Prize Distribution and Annual Day to showcase the many talents of the members. The event is graced by a chief guest, generally a renowned Marathi theater actor, who shares their experience and inspires the students. The Mandal also releases a handwritten magazine ‘ANKUR’ which motivates students to write and edit stories, poems, and articles.
